The Environmental Studies Centre

“Pupils explore living things in the pond and under stones and logs, always mindful not to disturb the natural habitat.”

Our unique Environmental Studies Centre, situated locally to school, enables pupils to experience first hand many aspects of the environment. Pupils explore living things in the pond and under stones and logs, always mindful not to disturb the natural habitat. The Outdoor Classroom provides opportunities for a diverse range of research. Weather studies are a regular occurrence and the state of the art ICT suite enables pupils to monitor and record their findings.

A caring and concerned attitude towards the environment is nurtured whilst an understanding of how conflicts can occur between the needs of man and the needs of the environment is taught. Pupils are taught about the complex inter-relationships between physical conditions, natural processes, human activities and the earth’s resources. Each pupil from 4 years old spends regular valuable time at the Environmental Studies Centre.

After School Clubs

There is a range of clubs from Year 1, which changes half-termly. They can be Music, Art, Sport or general interest. All children are welcome to attend these clubs.

Trips & Visitors

All children have a curriculum-related trip half-termly, from 3 years old. Visitors are invited into school to talk to the children. They may be doctors, policemen, “Zoolab” animals or hatching eggs.

Holiday Playschemes

We open school from 7:30am until 6pm for 10 weeks during the school holidays, for children of working parents to enjoy a selection of fun activities. Some weeks are themed; perhaps music, dance or football and some are of general interest, including cinema trips and walks.
