During the lockdown periods in 2020 and 2021, we have embraced the need for remote learning using both new and previously established online platforms and resources. We were able to adapt and evolve our provision very quickly, children did not miss a day of teaching and learning! We have been vigilant and highly organised with our communication to parents, revising timetables and zoom codes weekly, and offering extracurricular workshops from outside sources, and providing many pre-recorded and live shared assemblies.
Via a combination of Google Classroom and Zoom, we provided a full, live online teaching timetable for all of our children, with maths and English every day, and foundation subjects throughout the week, including music, art and PE with our subject specialist teachers. We were able to deliver a full curriculum to all pupils, whether they were learning from home, overseas, or the children of critical workers in school.
Our main priority throughout the process has been to support our children’s learning, their progress and their personal wellbeing.
Remote learning at its best has proven to help children to develop strong independent learning skills, using their advanced technological skills along with developing in them a greater level of resilience, patience and adaptability.
