It’s been another snowy day, but again a good one! The weather forecast suggests we will have a sunnier day tomorrow!
After a day on the slopes, they children explored the resort and did some shopping (they even bought souvenirs for their parents!).
They enjoyed their evening meal, before the sledging began! All the children are having a marvellous time. Read more »
The children have had a really good day on the mountain today.
It snowed heavily overnight and again at times throughout the day. They have, however, managed to ski in the clear periods and have even seen blue sky!
It’s movie night later on after their evening meal and the weather is getting brighter throughout the week. Read more »
On Wednesday 7th March 2018, we held the final of our annual House Poetry Competition. As always, we were pleased to welcome our Chairman of Governors, Mr Pye, as Head Judge! The children performed their poems in front of the judging panel and the children in classes 6 to 11. All of the poems, without exception, were brilliant and therefore the judges had the difficult job of choosing winners for the Pre-Prep Department, Junior Prep, Senior Prep and the Wild Card round! Congratulations to everyone who took part!
On Thursday 1st March, we celebrated World Book Day. Our children and teachers dressed as heroes or villains. We had a Narnia themed assembly and the children rotated in groups for different book-based activities through the morning. After lunch, the snow came, the school had to close, but luckily we enjoyed most of our day!
Class 4 received a visit from Ark Farm, in support of their current topic, ‘Farm’. The children learned all about the animals and enjoyed the interaction with them.

On Wednesday 21st February, our U9/10 boys took part in the U10 5-a-side Football Indoor Tournament at Milton Keynes Preparatory School.
A fantastic performance from the boys saw them finish as runners up out of 6 competitive teams.
Broughton Manor were unbeaten during the round robin part of the tournament with victories against both MKPS teams, Bedford Modern and Akeley Wood Junior School, finishing in joint 1st place with Berkhamsted School, who went on to win the tournament against our boys in the final.
Well done to the team!
On Wednesday 31st January 2018, Mrs Phillips (a parent at the school) visited class 6 to talk about town planning as part of our ‘Buildings’ topic. We started by discussing all the different people who help to design a new
town and what we need to use from the land around it. We thought about the different types of buildings that are needed and where they need to be placed within the town.
The children were then divided into groups and they planned their own towns. We had some great ideas, such as making sure that there were enough houses, how many football stadiums to have and where would the roundabouts should go! Mrs
Phillips helped the children with their decisions.
Finally, we presented the towns we had designed to the other groups.
We would like to thank Mrs Phillips for giving up her time to visit class 6.
On Tuesday 30th January 2018, our annual House Song Competition took place and the results are in!! The children, in their houses, performed songs from well-known musicals, as follows:
Emerson performed It’s the Hard-Knock Life from Annie
Ravenstone sang Greased Lightnin’ from Grease
Walton performed Circle of Life from The Lion King
Simpson sang You Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray
This year’s winners were Emerson. The children worked very hard and, as always, thoroughly enjoyed the event. Well done everyone who took part!
