Mad About Harry Cake Sale

On Friday 1st February, our parents hosted our Mad About Harry Cake Sale to raise funds for a local 10 year old boy to receive treatment abroad. We raised a fantastic £1018.60.  A huge thank you to Mrs Green, Miss Collins and all our parents who donated and bought cakes

Snow Day!

On Friday 1st February, we woke up to snow in Broughton.  The children couldn’t wait to put on their wellies, hats, scarves and gloves and head out into the playground for fun in the snow!!

HMS Pinafore

HMS Pinafore

On Wednesday 30th January, the children in classes 5 – 11 were treated to an uplifting concert in school, by a visiting group of talented performers from the Northampton Gilbert and Sullivan Group. They told the story of their latest production ‘HMS Pinafore’ and sang songs to entertain the children, who really enjoyed themselves. Our families have been offered the opportunity of a group booking to watch the Saturday Matinee performance in March, featuring our very own Deputy head, Mrs Smith, in the lead soprano role of Josephine. Get your tickets from school!

Preparatory Department Choir Carol Singing in the Community

Over this Christmas season, the Preparatory Department choir took the opportunity to visit some of the local care homes to sing Christmas carols and share some festive cheer with the community.  On Thursday the 6th December, the choir visited The Willows Care Home in Great Linford.  On Monday the 10th December, they went to Tickford Abbey Care Home in Newport Pagnell.  On Tuesday the 11th December, they sang at Milton Court Care Home in Kent’s Hill and on Wednesday 12th December, they visited Kent’s Hill Care Home.  The residents were delighted by the children’s singing and the time they took to meet them and share an afternoon of Christmas celebrations with them.  A delightful way to share the spirit of the season with our local community!

Class 11 trip to Cadburys World

On Thursday 13th December, the pupils in class 11 visited Cadbury’s World in Birmingham.  They learned about the origins of the Company in the early Victorian period and about the lives of the rich and poor during this time.  The tour of the factory included a chance for the children to try their hand at mixing and tempering chocolate and to see demonstrations on how the liquid chocolate in the factory gets made into all the products we see in the shops.  It was a wonderful day of learning and fun.  The children enjoyed the tastes and the smells of the factory and represented the school in exemplary fashion.

Pre-Prep Christingle Day

On Tuesday 11th December,  the children in classes 5, 6 & 7 spent the day learning about the Christingle tradition, They made their own Christingles, learnt Christmas Carols and took part in Christmas themed drama. During the afternoon, the children and staff walked to St Lawrence’s Church for a Christingle Service led by Rev. Ruth Maxey. They were told the story behind the Christingle tradition, sang carols and lit their Christingle candles.  The staff and the children had  wonderful time and hope to return next year.

Class 5 trip to Waddesdon Manor

On Wednesday 28th November, the children in class 5 spent a lovely day at Waddesdon Manor, in support of this half term’s topic, Colour and Light.  They enjoyed a tour of the beautifully decorated house, took part in a bauble decorating workshop and stayed just long enough to see the house and grounds lit up for Christmas
