BMPS Match Report: U10/U11 Boys Football vs Bedford Modern School, Wednesday 22nd February 2017

The wet and windy afternoon, brought on by the edges of Storm Doris, did not bring much luck to the two Broughton Manor teams on this occasion, as we travelled to Bedford Modern School.

The A team started slowly and conceded an early goal; the first time this season they have trailed at any point. Theo gave a valiant effort at the back and surged forward with some strong, well timed runs but Broughton were never able to gain a foothold in the first half, allowing several chances to go by.

BMS added two more goals to lead the match 3-0 at half time. After the break, Broughton came back out with renewed purpose and energy, pulling one back. Rohan slotted home the only Broughton goal from the left side of the box, but a quick fourth from BMS effectively ended the match. The final score was 6-1.

The B team had an improved performance with stand out efforts from Ali-Hasan in goal and James up front. James scored the only Broughton goal of the match, a fantastic finish which nearly tore the net off the goal. In the final few moments of the match Ali-Hasan made several excellent saves and kept the match close until the very end. The final score was BMS 4, Broughton Manor 1.
The weather for the match was cold and drizzly.
The match tea was chips and sausages.

The man of the match for the A team was Rohan Mall; he kept his width on the wing effectively and scored the only Broughton goal of the game.

The man of the match for the B team was Ali-Hasan Syed; he made some fantastic saves and really helped the B team play their best match so far this season. Great work to Rohan and Ali-Hasan!

BMPS Match Report: U10/U11 Boys Football vs Akeley Wood and The Croft School (Away) Wednesday 18th January, 2017

Thanks to Mr Lemon at Akeley Wood, the boys were able to join in a mini tournament against the hosts and The Croft School from Stratford.

The A team, played two terrific matches, the first against The Croft and the second against Akeley Wood. In the first match, Broughton scored two goals and won the match 2-0. The goal scorers were Rohan and Ire. In the second match, Broughton beat the hosts, Akeley Wood 2-1. The match looked like it would end in a 1-1 draw when Theo created a chance for himself late in the half and hit a rocket shot under the outstretched arm of the diving keeper. His goal, combined with Ire’s first goal in the match, meant that the A team finished the day with two wins. A great opening fixture!

The B team also played two very successful matches. In the first match against The Croft, the team was slow to start but found their passing and moving and really turned up the energy late in the half. They won the match 1-0, with the lone goal scored by James. In the second match against Akeley Wood, the team really turned on the heat, winning 4-1. There were some excellent spells of possession and some great finishing. The four goals were scored by Avyukt, Shravan and two more by James. Well done to the B team for a great opener to the new season!

The weather for the match was cold and cloudy. The tea was a packed lunch provided by the helpful staff of Broughton Manor kitchen.
The man of the match for the A team was Theo. He was composed and confident with the ball, working tirelessly for the team and scoring the winner in the close second match. The man of the match for the B team was Avyukt. He controlled the ball well and successfully created chances for his teammates. Great work to Theo and Avyukt!

Parent’s and student’s annual cricket match

Wednesday 6th July, 2016. The parent’s and student’s annual cricket match was played in a wonderful spirit today and enjoyed by all.
After a nail biting finish, we played a two over playoff and Shreyas Sreevats and his dad beat Mr Smuts and Jasmine Fadayini. Some excellent batting by both the parents and students; lots of fours and sixes were hit. There were also some excellent throws and a few confident catches. Some of the bowling was questionable and the dubious decisions of the umpires were brought under the microscope a few times, but after all was said and done, the sport of cricket was definitely the main winner on the day. Fixture tea was very enjoyable with mountains of cakes, piles of biscuits and plenty of delicious nibbles for all. A huge credit to Mrs Barker, Mrs Smith, Daisy and Finn for creating a delightful spread for the intermission and thank you to all the teachers and parent helpers for playing their part in an enjoyable end to our 11’s sporting time here at Broughton. U11 Boys’ Cricket Fixture v MKPS

On 27th April we played cricket against MKPS at home (Broughton Pavilion) in a 16 over match.

We won the toss and chose to bat first; Aaron and Kayne opened the batting. Kayne unfortunately wast bowled out by a spin bowler. Next in was George, who again was unfortunately dispatched to the pavilion pretty quickly with no runs to his name. Cole then followed in the batting order and he struggled with MKPS’s excellent bowling however throughout this time Aaron managed to keep the runs ticking along.
